Show Notes

In this episode, I chat with Tunde Kara, the Founder of Vendease, an all-in-one food procurement platform in Africa. Vendease has recently raised a $30 million Series A round led by Partech Africa and TLcom.

Vendease launched in January 2020 as a middleman trying to solve the challenges and inefficiencies in Nigeria’s highly fragmented food sector. It connected suppliers and farms to restaurants and food businesses to facilitate deliveries within 24 hours. But the founders noticed that some of these businesses complained of delivery times, quality of food supplies, and inadequate set-up to handle operations. So they shifted their model to become the go-to provider for these customers by building relationships with food suppliers, buying discounted products in bulk, storing them, and making deliveries through third-party logistics partners within 12 hours now.
