Show Notes Transcript

Every Friday, I share with you one principle that has inspired me.

In this episode, I share with you one principle by John Wooden: "Always Keep Moving."

In our daily life, we have to make multiple decisions daily. It becomes really hard when you don’t have any key points based on what you will make that particular decision. Our understanding of the world around us is largely shaped by the core principles we have accepted. Principles recognize what is true and help us apply truth to new or unknown situations. A good set of principles will enable us to make decisions quickly, even if our situation is completely new.

Principles Friday will help you share the principles of successful entrepreneurs, founders, and big thinkers.

Welcome to Principles Friday, where I share one principle that can help you in your life and business.

Today we have on the show John Wooden.

He once said: Always Keep Moving”

What a powerful principle.

John Wooden was a renowned American basketball coach who is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport. During his coaching career, Wooden led the UCLA Bruins to 10 national championships, including a record seven consecutive championships from 1967 to 1973. This was and continues to be an unprecedented streak in modern major sports that most likely will never be duplicated. The most striking aspect of the whole thing is that the championships were the least of his passions. John Wooden lived to teach.

One of Wooden's most famous quotes is "Don't let yesterday use up too much of today." This quote encourages people to keep moving forward and not to dwell on the past. It emphasizes the importance of staying focused on the present and looking ahead to the future.

A former player of Coach Wooden said that he was always shouting, “Move, move, move!” He was not only referring to basketball, but to life in general. We must take action and we must always be progressing; building upon success and learning from failure. We must think and we must always be in motion. Coach Wooden would say, “Be quick, but don’t hurry.”

Success comes slowly.  Expect change to happen slowly and to have patience along the way.

Wooden said, “Whatever you’re doing, you must have patience” and “there is no progress without change, so you must have patience.”

These quotes emphasize the importance of staying focused and working towards your goals. They encourage a forward-thinking mindset and the value of staying motivated and proactive in the face of challenges. Wooden's philosophy was centered on the idea that hard work and perseverance are key to success, and his words continue to inspire and motivate people around the world to always keep moving forward.

That concludes it for this Friday.

Remember: “Always keep Moving. Don't let yesterday use up too much of today.”

Have a great weekend.
